Responding to Minister George Freeman MP's speech today "The UK's Global Science Strategy beyond Horizon Europe" (11th January 2023), the BioYorkshire partnership said: “We welcome the Minister’s recognition today of the powerful opportunity BioYorkshire can bring to our region and the country as a whole, as an exemplar of the regional clusters of excellence to be nurtured to accelerate innovation and prosperity for all. The BioYorkshire project - powered by the University of York, Fera Science and Askham Bryan College - has the potential to deliver a step change in the bioeconomy: creating jobs, removing carbon, and producing innovative new products in agri-tech, bio-materials and fuel. BioYorkshire draws in the active engagement of a vast section of regional industrial partners as well as the Local Authority. By accelerating the deployment of innovative technologies and processes for removing carbon across multiple industrial sectors from farming and food production to fuels and chemicals, it will create new (and upskill existing) jobs for the new low carbon economy and accelerate local economic growth by spinning out IP and attracting strategic new inward investment.”
